Performance
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe has three available engines for customers to choose from. The standard motor is the tried and true 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. The other available V8 is the venerable 6.2-liter that makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. You can also option a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-6 that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. All engines utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the two V8s feature Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) and variable valve timing (VVT). Rear-wheel drive is standard while four-wheel drive is optional.

While fuel economy isn’t the first thing most people think or ask about when it comes to large SUVs like the Tahoe, it is worth noting that it isn’t a bad vehicle when considering how large and usable it is.

Exterior
On LS, LT, RST, and Premier models you can option a black grille with Chevrolet lettering.
The base LS and LT models come standard with 18-inch bright silver painted wheels, and buyers can option various styles of 20 and 22-inch wheels in either polished, painted, carbon flash metallic, or gloss black. RST and Premier models have standard 20-inch wheels with 22s optional, and RST and High Country are standard with 22-inch wheels.
Interior
Chevrolet Tahoe can be configured as a 7 or 8 passenger vehicle, with either a bench seat or captain’s chairs for the second row. The third row always seats 3 occupants.
Two 12.6-inch fold-down screens can be optioned for rear passengers to be able to watch movies or even play video games.
With all of the seats up, the Tahoe has 25.5 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the third row. With the third row folded, there is 72.6 cu.ft. behind the second row of seats. With both the second and third rows folded flat, this large Chevy opens up to have 122.9 cu.ft. of total cargo volume.
Technology
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe features a lot of new technology, including Super Cruise, one of the first hands-free driver assistance technologies for vehicles. Super Cruise is available on Premier and High Country trim levels.
Four Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension is available on Z71 and High Country models, while Magnetic Ride Control is standard on Premier and High Country and optional on RST and Z71 trim levels.
LS models feature an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment display. LT models and above have a 10.2-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment display, as well as Google built-in. Also on LT and higher trims is a 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument cluster.
The 10.2-inch infotainment display has up to 13 different camera views. If you are towing, the Tahoe includes a transparent trailer view, rear trailer view, and picture-in-picture side view when buyers opt for the Advanced Trailering System.
Every Tahoe has a WiFi hotspot that requires an active AT&T plan. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
Safety
As with all Chevrolet cars, trucks, and SUVs, Chevy Safety Assist is standard and features Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking and IntelliBeam auto high beams.
Optional extras include: Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, a 15-inch-diagonal Head-Up Display, Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Camera Mirror Washer, and Rear Pedestrian Alert.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given the Chevrolet Tahoe excellent crash test ratings. With a maximum of 5 stars in all crash tests, the Tahoe gets 4 stars for the front passenger and 5 for the driver in a head-on collision. For NHTSA’s side crash ratings, the large Chevy scores 5 stars in their side barrier and pole crash tests. With 3 out of 5 stars in the rollover resistance test in the event of a “single-vehicle, loss-of-control scenario”, The Tahoe SUV does well for being so tall and long. NHTSA gives it a rollover risk of just 21%.
