The Traverse is all-new for 2024 with a greater emphasis on technology and capability. Everything is new from the ground up, including a more rugged exterior, a reimagined tech-infused interior, and an all-new engine. An off-road-focused ZR1 trim has also been added to the 2024 lineup.
Unchanged is the SUV’s spacious cabin and ability to carry up to 7 or 8 people and their cargo. The New Traverse is still available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, which is usually the de facto choice here in Idaho.
The Traverse has a new appearance with an emphasis on rugged capability. Up front is a new split grill design derived from Chevrolet’s truck lines. The rest of the body is squared-off and broad-shouldered. LED front and rear lighting are standard across the model line, as is a true dual exhaust system with quad chrome outlets. The top of the model line hierarchy moves in two distinct directions. The RS is the Camaro-inspired sport model with 22-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels matching a black grille and a new panoramic dual-glass sunroof with a power sunshade. The Z71 is off-road-focused with skid plates, tow hooks, and all-terrain tires over 18-inch black machine-finished alloy wheels. The panoramic dual-glass sunroof is available on the Z71 and LT trims.
The interior is all new with an elegant horizontal-themed dash topped with a standard best-in-class 17.7-inch diagonal touch screen. Also standard is an 11-inch digital driver information center. Convenient storage areas can be found throughout the cabin, which includes a pass-through console design that is easily accessible, while also tucked away, for a clean, organized appearance.
LS models have 8-passenger seating with a three-passenger 2nd-row bench seat. LT, RS, and Z71 models have a 7-passenger configuration with second-row captain’s chairs with SmartSlide, which eases access to the third row, even when a child seat is installed. Heating is available for first and second-row seats, steering wheel, and outside mirrors.
Behind the front seats is best-in-class 98 cubic feet of cargo space. Easing access to that space is a new Smart Sense Liftgate that recognizes your presence and opens up without needing to fumble for keys or search for sensors. The third-row seat has room for three, but can also be configured for two or one to maximize available cargo space with 60/40 split seat backs.
The standard 17.7-inch touchscreen has an easy-to-use icon-based operating system. Wireless phone charging is available, as is the ability to create a Wi-Fi hotspot for devices. Keeping those devices charged are six USB ports spread throughout the cabin.
GM’s amazing SuperCruise system is now available on the Traverse, enabling hands-off driving on up to 400,000 miles of roads in North America. Other available driver-assist features include trailering and automatic lane change capabilities, Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, and Driver Attention Assist.
The Traverse will be available in LS, LT, RS, and Z71 trim levels.
