2026 Chevrolet Tahoe

Performance

The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe offers three available engines. The standard engine is the tried-and-true 5.3-liter V8, producing 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The other available V8 is the venerable 6.2-liter that makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. For the first time across the entire trim lineup, you can also option the uprated second-generation Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder turbodiesel, which puts out 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All engines utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the two V8s feature Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) and variable valve timing (VVT). Rear-wheel drive is standard, while four-wheel drive is optional.

No matter which engine you spec for your 2026 Tahoe, they can all tow and haul. Maximum payload is 1,834 pounds. You can also tow up to 8,400 pounds.

Solid fuel economy is achievable in the 2026 Tahoe. You can get up to 20 mpg with the V8 engine, while the Duramax turbodiesel can return around 28 mpg on the highway. The latter also translates into a range of up to 672 miles.

The Air Ride Adaptive Suspension is available on the 2026 High Country and Z71, along with RST for the first time. It offers automatic load-leveling and ride-height adjustment. With Magnetic Ride Control, which is standard on the 2026 Premier and High Country (and available on RST and Z71), sensors continually “read” the road 1,000 times per second to alter the damping rate of the shocks almost instantly.

Exterior

For 2026, the Tahoe gets a revised look, with a new front grille design that includes a bolder signature lighting design. Each of the six trims gets its own grille design that fits its personality and makes it easy to identify. The Z71 incorporates skid plates and a high-approach front fascia, while the High Country leans in on a sport-luxury theme, with a sophisticated balance of black and Galvano chrome trim.

Wheel sizes vary per trim level. They start from 18 inches and go all the way up to the High Country, and RST’s available 24-inch alloy wheels.   

Interior

The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe can be configured as a seven- or eight-passenger vehicle, with either a bench seat or captain’s chairs for the second row. The third row always seats three occupants.

A new dashboard gives the driver improved confidence through the 11.0-inch driver information center. It is customizable  to your specific information needs. The center console is redesigned with new storage options and a repositioned, more convenient wireless charging pad. Plus, the driver is greeted with a new steering wheel design.

With all of the seats up, the Tahoe has 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. With the third row folded, there are 72.6 cubic feet behind the second row of seats. With both the second and third rows folded flat, this large Chevrolet opens up to have 122.9 cubic feet of total cargo volume.

Technology

The centerpiece of the 2026 Tahoe is a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. The new system features Google Built-in, which incorporates the Google Assistant and lets you use your voice to get directions or interact with other Google apps. Every Tahoe has a WiFi hotspot that requires an active AT&T plan. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.

Also available on the 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe is Super Cruise, one of the first hands-free driver-assistance technologies. Super Cruise is available on the Premier and High Country trim levels.

Four Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension is available on Z71 and High Country models. Magnetic Ride Control is standard on Premier and High Country, and optional on RST and Z71.

With the larger display, you can view multiple camera angles. If you are towing, the Tahoe includes a transparent trailer view, rear trailer view, and picture-in-picture side view if you opt for the Advanced Trailering System.

Safety

As with all Chevrolet cars, trucks, and SUVs, Chevrolet Safety Assist is standard and features Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Front Pedestrian Braking, and IntelliBeam auto high beams.

Also featured on the 2026 Tahoe are Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, a Head-Up Display, Rear Camera Mirror, Rear Camera Mirror Washer, and Rear Pedestrian Alert.   

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe excellent crash-test ratings. With a maximum of 5 stars in all crash tests, the Tahoe gets 4 stars for the front passenger and 5 stars for the driver in a head-on collision. For NHTSA’s side crash ratings, the large Chevrolet scores 5 stars in the side barrier and pole crash tests. With 3 out of 5 stars in the rollover resistance test in the event of a “single-vehicle, loss-of-control scenario,” the Tahoe SUV does well for being so tall and long. NHTSA gives it a rollover risk of just 21%.
