Performance

A turbocharged 1.2-liter ECOTEC inline-3 engine powers the Trax, producing 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to the front wheels. The EPA-estimated fuel economy is 28 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.  

The front independent suspension features MacPherson Struts with coil-over springs and a direct-acting stabilizer bar. The rear suspension employs a torsion beam, coil springs, and twin-tube dampers. The standard power rack and pinion steering offers precise and responsive handling. 

Exterior

The design of the new Chevrolet Trax draws inspiration from the Chevy Blazer, showcasing sophistication while remaining youthful. Its proportions are low, long, and sleek, giving it a distinctive athletic look.   

High-mounted but low-profile LED daytime running lights flank the upper grille and give the Trax a sleek face. Standard LED headlights are tucked in the corners, leaving room for the grille to show people which trim level you have. All RS models feature a black grille with a black bowtie emblem and RS badging, while ACTIV models feature a black grille and a body-colored accent between the headlights.   

The standard LS model comes with 16-inch steel wheels, which can be upgraded to 17-inch silver-painted aluminum wheels with the LS Convenience Package. This package also adds body-color heated power outside mirrors as an exterior feature.   

LT models come with 17-inch aluminum wheels as standard, while 1RS and ACTIV have 18-inch wheels, and 2RS models feature 19-inch wheels. ACTIV models include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and 1RS, LT, 2RS, and ACTIV offer an available sunroof.   

Interior

Even the base Trax LS model comes with features like push-button start, automatic climate control, Active Noise Cancellation, and more. The LS Convenience Package adds keyless entry, as well as heating for the steering wheel, front seats, and outside mirrors, along with 17-inch alloy wheels. Despite its small exterior size, the Trax interior is surprisingly roomy. Its 38.7 inches of rear legroom surpasses that of many larger models. The interior dimensions in inches are:  

• Headroom F/R: 39.6 / 38.1  
• Legroom F/R: 41.9 / 38.7   
• Shoulder room F/R: 55.7 / 54.3  
• Hip room F/R: 52.1 / 45.3    

Overall, there is 99.8 cubic feet of passenger volume. Behind the rear seats, there is 25.6 cu. ft. of cargo space, and with the seats folded down, customers will appreciate the large 54.1 cu. ft. cargo area.

Technology

For such an affordable vehicle, the Chevy Trax offers a lot of technology and features. LS and 1RS trims have an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen infotainment display, while LT, 2RS, and ACTIV models feature an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ come standard on all models, and a wireless phone charger is available on LT, 2RS, and ACTIV. All models, including the LS, are Wi–Fi hotspot-capable and can be used with an active AT&T phone plan.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard on all Trax models and features :
