The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs The Competition

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the Competition

Born from the original family SUV, the Chevrolet Tahoe offers the right combination of practicality and superb value to bring families together. The Chevy Tahoe is the vehicle you need when family and cargo space are among your top priorities.

Updated for 2025, the large three-row SUV is designed to carry up to eight passengers comfortably. The seats can also be folded down to bring home just about anything from the store. The Tahoe offers a variety of engines made for specific tasks. You also have a great choice of trim levels, including the top-of-the-line luxury of the High Country.

With this kind of variety available, how well does the Chevrolet Tahoe compete against the competition?

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the Toyota Sequoia

The Toyota Sequoia is their large SUV that offers more for their owners. Powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid driveline, it is also unique in that it is the only electrified vehicle in its class. It is available in two- and four-wheel drive.

  • While the Sequoia has only one driveline – the hybrid twin-turbocharged V6 – you have a choice of power in the Tahoe with two V8s and our Duramax turbocharged diesel. That engine puts down 495 pound-feet of torque at low revs for maximum hauling.
  • Compared to the Sequoia, the Tahoe with rear-wheel drive and the Duramax diesel can achieve improved fuel economy over Toyota’s hybrid. Last year, the EPA rated the Tahoe up to 27 MPG – better than Sequoia! Plus, the Tahoe has a larger standard fuel tank for better driving range.
  • In the Tahoe, you still have more cargo space overall. Up to 122.8 cubic feet with the second and third rows down. There’s even space behind the third row, with 25.5 cubic feet compared to the Sequoia.
  • Chevrolet leads in driver assistance technology. The available Super Cruise gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road. This technology is not available on the Sequoia.
  • A proven four-wheel drive system is easy to use through a two-speed transfer case. It is available on all Tahoe models, offering proven capability through any condition.
  • Driver attention is important. This is why the Tahoe offers a best-in-class 15-inch diagonal head-up display.
  • The 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen also serves as a hub for Google Built-in services and apps. The screen is not only larger than the Sequoia’s, but Toyota does not offer Google Built-in on its infotainment system. Plus, the Tahoe’s camera system, which can be viewed from this large screen, offers 14 different views.

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the Ford Expedition

The 2025 Expedition is all new and a showcase for innovations designed to offer the latest technology, passenger comfort, and cargo management. With EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 power, the Expedition has a proven engine that delivers solid fuel economy. It is available in two—and four-wheel drive.

  • Ford offers only a twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid driveline, while Chevrolet offers three engines to choose from. The Duramax turbocharged diesel engine produces 495 pound-feet of pure torque, more than the Expedition’s twin-turbocharged engine.
  • Compared to the Expedition, the Tahoe with rear-wheel drive and the Duramax diesel can achieve improved fuel economy over the Ford’s twin-turbo V6. Last year, the Tahoe was rated by the EPA up to 27 MPG – better than the new Expedition!
  • The Expedition’s new dashboard has a very contemporary design. Does it make driving easier? The Tahoe offers a straightforward driving environment with easy-to-read instrumentation, tactile controls where you need them, and a larger steering wheel. Plus, the Tahoe also offers the best-in-class 15-inch diagonal head-up display for better driver attention.
  • While the Expedition offers its Multi-Function Split Gate, there is nothing like the convenience of loading your luggage or major shopping right at the bumper with the Tahoe’s one-piece liftgate. The lower gate extends loading and unloading by several inches, which extends the reach of the items you load into the cargo hold.
  • The 17.7-inch diagonal Infotainment touchscreen, which is larger than the Expedition’s, also serves as a hub for Google Built-in services and apps.

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the Jeep Wagoneer

Jeep’s return to the large SUV segment was a long time coming. They changed the SUV business when the Wagoneer was first introduced in 1963. The newest Wagoneer came with a mix of luxurious design and Jeep’s famed capability. They come in two and four-wheel drive, powered by a twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine.

  • The Wagoneer only offers one engine – the highly touted Hurricane twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder engine. On the Tahoe, you have choices – including the Duramax turbocharged diesel. The available diesel puts down more torque – 495 pound-feet worth – than the Wagoneer’s engine. Plus, the Tahoe has a 10-speed automatic transmission compared to the Wagoneer’s eight-speed.
  • Compared to the Wagoneer, the Tahoe with rear-wheel drive and the Duramax diesel should achieve improved fuel efficiency over the Jeep’s twin-turbo in-line six. Last year, the EPA rated the Tahoe up to 27 MPG – better than the new Wagoneer!
  • The Tahoe’s V8 engines feature cylinder deactivation, which helps return better fuel economy and improve overall engine efficiency.
  • In terms of cargo space, the Tahoe has more of it. With the second and third-row seats down, the Chevrolet can accommodate up to 122.8 cubic feet – more than the Wagoneer. It also has more space, with the third-row seats up and 72.5 cubic feet.
  • When it comes to features, the Tahoe does not skimp on anything. Third-row passengers have their own vents, as well as available headphone jacks, headphones, and video monitors for second-row and third-row passengers.
  • Chevrolet leads in driver assistance technology. The available Super Cruise gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road. This technology is not available on the Wagoneer.
  • The 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen also serves as a hub for Google Built-in services and apps. The screen is not only larger than the Wagoneer’s, Jeep does not offer Google Built-in on their infotainment system.
  • Driver attention is important. This is why the Tahoe offers a best-in-class 15-inch diagonal head-up display.

2025 Chevrolet Tahoe vs the Nissan Armada

Another newly redesigned entry into this segment is the Nissan Armada. It is bolder than before and offers more choices for its customers. They went with their own twin-turbocharged V6 engine for power instead of a V8, as in previous generation models. It is also offered in two- and four-wheel drive.

  • The Armada’s only engine available is their new twin-turbocharged V6. With the Tahoe, you have a choice of three engines, including the Duramax turbocharged diesel. All of the Tahoe’s engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission compared to the Armada’s nine-speed.
  • Compared to the Armada, the Tahoe with rear-wheel drive and the Duramax diesel can achieve improved fuel economy over the Nissan’s twin-turbo V6. Last year, the EPA rated the Tahoe up to 27 MPG – better than the new Armada! The Tahoe also has a larger fuel tank with 24 gallons as standard.
  • With the Tahoe, you still have more cargo space overall. Up to 122.8 cubic feet with the second and third rows down. There’s even space behind the third row, with 25.5 cubic feet compared to the Armada.
  • Nissan requires you to fuel up with Premium Unleaded fuel. You can run the Tahoe’s standard 5.3-liter V8 with just Regular Unleaded. That is an immediate fuel savings passed on to you.
  • Chevrolet leads in driver assistance technology. The available Super Cruise gives drivers some time to relax while staying on the road. The technology exists in the Armada, but it has not been proven how effective this technology is.
  • The 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment touchscreen in the Tahoe, which is larger than the Armada’s, also serves as a hub for Google Built-in services and apps.
