MotorTrend Drives The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV is taking the market by storm. Whether it be Marques Brownlee’s glowing review, or when GM engineers decided to drive 1,059.2 miles on a single charge in the Silverado EV WT trim. Now, a new review of the Trail Boss trim has MotorTrend appreciating the value of the latest EV pickup.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The 2026 Silverado EV starts at $57,990 and is available in three trims: Work Truck (WT), LT, and Trail Boss. The Trail Boss is an all-new trim that offers buyers an off-road-ready truck capable of tackling just about anything the earth throws its way. All trim levels feature standard 4WD and are available in Standard, Extended, and Max Range for the battery system.
The New Trail Boss
MotorTrend’s Silverado EV, which they tested for the magazine, was a Trail Boss Extended Range model that boasts 625 horsepower and 765 lb-ft of torque, with an EPA-estimated range of 410 miles. The top-of-the-line Max Range model can drive 478 miles on a single charge and puts out 725 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. With the Extended Range battery pack, Chevrolet says the Silverado EV Trail Boss can tow up to 12,500 lbs with a 2,100-lb payload, when properly equipped.
What Makes the Trail Boss Special

When choosing the Trail Boss, buyers will get a truck that offers 35-inch all-terrain tires with special 18-inch wheels, red tow hooks, unique badges, different interior styles, a high-angle approach front bumper, and the Multi-Flex Midgate.
What MotorTrend Had to Say
When talking about the truck, the writer, Justin Banner, found one particular feature to be a standout, four-wheel steering: “You don’t realize just how much of an advantage it is until you need to make a U-turn on a trail that’s merely the width of the truck plus some extra runoff. While it wasn’t a tank turn, we also didn’t need to maneuver using more than a three- or four-point turnaround. It also makes driving the truck easier in general, as we could approach the paved roads to the trails with more than equal speed to the smaller and lighter trucks in traffic.”
Super Cruise Is the Best Option to Have

While four-wheel steering is absolutely necessary when off-roading in narrow areas, there is one option that makes the Silverado EV even more usable to its buyers: Super Cruise. With more than 750,000 mapped roads across America and Canada, drivers can engage Super Cruise and completely take their hands off the steering wheel, letting the vehicle take care of their longer drives. If you need to change lanes, simply tap the turn signal, and when it’s safe to do so, the Silverado will move over. You can even use the advanced driver assistance tech when towing a trailer.
