​​Chevrolet Blazer EV SS Set to Pace Daytona 500​

One of the biggest spectacles in motorsport is the Daytona 500. The NASCAR Cup Series kicks off with the famed tri-oval taking on the skills of the best stock car racers, combining endurance and speed. 

Chevrolet has been a huge part of the Daytona 500 for its entirety. They have won the Daytona 500 26 times – more than any other manufacturer. That includes last year’s win by William Byron. Chevrolet swept all three NASCAR Manufacturers’ Championships in 2024 for the second year in a row. 

At this year’s Daytona 500, NASCAR fans experienced something entirely new. For the first time, the Pace Car will be fueled by electricity only. Setting the pace was a 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS—a perfect match since it is the quickest SS model Chevrolet has ever produced. While this is the first time the Daytona 500 Pace Car has been an exclusively electric-powered vehicle, the Blazer EV SS marks the 16th time Chevrolet has paced the Daytona 500 and the first Blazer ever to do so.  

When equipped with Wide Open Watts, the 2025 Blazer SS is clocked to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. The electric driveline also produces 615 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The Daytona 500 Pace Car received no modifications, not even performance upgrades, just factory specifications. It did receive the requisite custom graphics and embedded strobe lighting, which is necessary for a pace car. Since it stuck with factory specifications, the Blazer EV SS features front Brembo brakes, a sport-tuned chassis, a best-in-class 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen, standard Super Cruise driver assistance technology, and offers an EPA-estimated 303 miles of range. 

While at the race, Chevrolet will show its idea for the future of NASCAR Cup Series racing – the Blazer EV.R. The prototype represents a joint effort between NASCAR and Chevrolet, with the intent of exploring new and emerging automotive technologies. It is not known when we will see EVs on the NASCAR Cup Series Grid or any NASCAR EV-specific series field.  

The 2025 Blazer EV SS is at the apex of our EV lineup’s transformation, providing our customers with a wide variety of performance and efficiency options.
