What does the Chevrolet Corvette and checkered flags have in common? A tradition of winning. The Corvette has always found itself on the podium. Most likely on its top rung. The results have been historic. In the International Motor Sports Association’s sports car classes, the Corvette has won the triple crown in its class for drivers, manufacturers, and team 13 times.

This season, the Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports team. They captured all three titles in the GTD PRO class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This hat trick was accomplished at the end of the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

As Chevrolet took the Manufacturer’s title, Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports was awarded the Teams trophy. Ultimately, Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims shared the Driver’s title in a hard-fought, dramatic, and grueling season. In fact, this was their first championship together in the GTD PRO class. Separately, Garcia won the Driver’s title six times, with Sims gaining two such titles.

The Petit Le Mans saw a double podium for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports, as IMSA legend Tommy Milner was joined by Nicky Catsburg, and Nico Varrone finished second. The hat trick was clinched by Garcia, Sims, and Daniel Juncadella in their third-place finish at Road Atlanta.

In recent years, the GTD PRO class has become one to watch for motorsports fans. Since 2001, the Corvette has been in the thick of battle every year. It is all about points earned throughout the season. The Corvette Z06 GT3.R has been racking up the points all season long. In total, the team scored a combined nine class podiums this year alone.

It is not just in IMSA’s GTD PRO Class. Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams found success this past year in the Sports Car Club of America’s GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS, the European Le Mans Series, and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
