Chevy Silverado 1500 What’s New For 2024

For 2024 the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is getting some updates and upgrades. As one of the longest-lasting and most dependable pickup trucks ever on the market, the Silverado has always been a formidable vehicle to purchase. TurboMax

The 2.7-liter Turbocharged Inline-4 gets a new name: TurboMax. With 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, it does have some max to go with its name. Not only does it pack a powerful punch under the hood, the TurboMax can also tow up to 9,500 lbs in two-wheel drive form, or 9,300 lbs with optional four-wheel drive. The max payload for the 4WD trim is 2,140 lbs and 2,260 lbs for the 2WD models. That’s the most of any Silverado 1500 you can purchase. 

ZR2 Duramax

For the first time ever, the ZR2 Silverado can be optioned with the 3.0-liter Turbo Diesel. The Duramax 3.0 is a Turbocharged Inline-6 engine that makes 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. Power is put through a 10-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the Duramax can tow up to 13,300 lbs in 2WD form and 13,000 lbs with 4WD. The 2WD version can haul 1,970 lbs in the bed, while the 4WD’s payload is just 10 fewer pounds. 

Other New Options

Two new metallic colors are available, Lakeshore Blue and Slate Gray. Adaptive cruise control is now standard on the High Country, along with the available Midnight Edition that adds power-retractable side steps in black with LED lights. There is a Blackout Appearance Package optional on the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2. 

Base No Longer Means Base

The WT trim is the base Silverado trim, and when optioned with the Safety Package, you will get front and rear park assist, and OnStar, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are now standard on the WT.
