Chevy Trax Named To Car & Driver 10Best List

The world of small crossover SUVs is filled with vehicles that promise a lot but underdeliver. However, the 2024 Chevrolet Trax is one of the best small crossover SUVs money can buy. The 1.2-liter inline-3 engine punches above its weight with 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque and is both faster and more fuel efficient than the 4-cylinder engine it replaces in the previous generation Trax. 

Outdoing Itself And the Competition

In their testing, Car and Driver noted the performance of the engine and the quietness of the cabin saying, “It outaccelerates its predecessor across the board … It also did better than the previous Trax on our highway fuel-economy loop, returning 30 mpg. The Trax is quieter than expected too, with standard active noise cancellation helping both at wide-open throttle and at a 70-mph cruise, where our reading of 69 decibels means it is just as quiet as a Lexus NX350.”

Base Price and Features

With a base MSRP of just $21,495 for the Trax LS, it comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display, while some trims can be optioned with an 11-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is a WiFi hotspot. The top Activ trim will only run buyers $24,995. All Trax models feature Chevy Safety Assist as standard, which features Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist. Cruise control is standard across the range and Adaptive Cruise Control is an available option on certain trim levels.
