How Much Can You Fit Behind the Third Row of a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse?

You are ready to take a road trip. Your family is gearing up for the miles ahead. You count your people, your luggage, and anything else your children want to bring. Do you have enough room for everybody and everything? To find out, Edmunds.com recently put the cargo area of a 2025 Chevrolet Traverse to the test.

The first thing you need to know is that the 2025 Traverse has 22.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row of seats. This is one of the best cargo volumes in its size class. It is also one of the attributes that the Traverse has been known for over the past few generations.

To see if the Traverse’s cargo space could handle the luggage, here is what Edumnds.com used for its test. “There are two bags you’d definitely have to check at the airport: Big Gray (26 inches long x 16.5 inches wide x 12 inches deep) and Big Blue (26 x 16.5 x 10). There are three [roller-boards] that usually fit as carry-on: Medium Tall (24 x 14 x 9), Medium Wide (23 x 15 x 9) and the smaller Green Bag (21 x 14 x 9.5). Finally, there’s [a] Fancy Bag (21 x 12 x 11), a medium-size duffle.

The result of its test is that all of the bags fit behind the third row of seats. The editors also found the third-row seatbacks and headrests prevent bags from moving beyond its space. You can carve out more space by removing the floor panel that is flush with the lift, lowering the floor to put more items behind the third row of seats.

Another thing to consider when packing luggage behind the third row is visibility. If your Traverse is equipped with the rearview camera mirror, then you have a view from behind your Traverse that is sharp and clear. When you are backing up out of the driveway or from a parking spot, the camera views from the standard 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen help with clear views. Some models offer 360-degree views that help you to back up with confidence.

Of course, you could fit more items back there. How about a cooler? Edmunds.com did exactly that. Inside the lower cargo area, the editors replaced the Fancy Bag with a cooler. Then, they noticed that they could fit the Fancy Bag on top of the luggage and still have room.

One thing you may find about the 2025 Traverse is how easily you can load these items. Standard is an AutoSense Power Liftgate that can open the liftgate without using your hands to release it. Just wave your foot and load it up. An impressive feat of cargo utilization? If you own a 2025 Traverse, this could be your routine.

Every time you take a road trip, know that you can fit your family’s luggage behind the third row of a 2025 Traverse and still see behind and around you. Looking for a great road trip vehicle? Contact us at Twin Falls Chevrolet and let us show you the 2025 Traverse soon!
