Chevrolet has announced updated capacities for their 4WT and 3WT Silverado EV, and things have changed for the 3WT models. At this point, the highly-equipped 4WT models have started shipping to fleet customers. The 4WT is the higher model with the largest battery in the lineup.  However, as is often the case with trucks, the lower models will have high capacities due to lower weight, which is the case for the 3WT. Twin Falls Chevrolet is passing what we know so far on to you.

The New Figures

Here are the latest operational specs that Chevrolet released on two Silverado EV models:

4WT / 3WT

  • EPA-estimated miles of range: 450 / 393
  • GM-estimated horsepower: 515 / 510
  • GM-estimated torque in tow/haul mode: 600 lb.-ft. / 600 lb.-ft.
  • GM-estimated maximum payload: 1,400 lb. / 1,750 lb.
  • GM-estimated maximum towing capacity: 10,000 lb. / 12,500 lb.

The 4WT figures are unchanged from what GM has stated before, and it is accepted those would be the best figures for the model line. However, as seen above, the 3WT payload increases by 350 lbs to 1,750 pounds, and the maximum towing rating increases by 2,500 lbs to 12,500 lbs. This is likely due to the same power output but from a truck with a less heavy battery. Chevrolet has yet not specified the battery size of the 4WT beyond describing it simply as “200+ kWh”. Other figures lead to an estimate of about 212 kWh, which puts the truck’s weight at about 8,500 lb. With the lower estimated range of the 3WT, one can estimate about 27 kWh less battery capacity, which may account for an approximate 350-pound weight reduction.

More Silverado EV Models to Come

Prices have been established for the two Silverado EV models, with the 4WT having a starting MSRP of $79,800, including destination charge. The 3WT comes in $5,000 less at $74,800. Chevrolet has promised future lower-priced trucks in the lineup and a version that will tow up to 20,000 pounds. Of course, the big unknown for the towing figures is not just how much but also how far. Over time, the Silverado range will expand to look more like the present Silverado model lineup, with a Silverado EV RST expected, as well as an EV Trail Boss.

If most of your hauling falls short of the range, the high power combined with a maintenance-free drivetrain could make the Silverado EV a good fit in your life. Visit Twin Falls Chevrolet to learn more about the Silverado EV.
