The Redesigned 2025 Chevy Equinox Impresses

The previous Equinox was quite a success. It was Chevrolet’s best-selling SUV/crossover and thus second only in sales to the Silverado 1500. The earlier design also lasted for seven years and still sold well, but in 2025, the Equinox is an all-new vehicle and marks the end of two years in which every Chevrolet has been redesigned or refreshed. Twin Falls Chevrolet tells you more about this exciting new model.

More Dynamic Exterior

The new Equinox adopts the general front-end design seen across the Chevrolet crossover model line. This includes a thin upper grille flanked by low-profile daytime running lights, with a larger grille below. Dividing the upper and lower grille is the familiar Chevrolet bowtie badge, while the headlights are tucked into the corners.

It has a more upright and even truck-like appearance. What stands out in the profile are the flared, squared-off fenders and the C-pillar, which is divided by a black panel bridging the rear quarter and rear door windows. It creates a shark fin appearance on the pillar’s lower section, and the break enables the available two-tone exteriors with a light or dark roof to contrast with the body color. Add in the hand-gun-shaped taillights and extended roof spoiler, and the Equinox winds up with a significantly more dynamic appearance than the previous model. It looks more planted than the previous model because it is 2.5 inches wider overall.

“This generation of Equinox has taken on a broad-shouldered, athletic appearance that conveys confidence and versatility,” said Phil Zak, Executive Design Director, Global Chevrolet. “We leaned into distinct appearances and material selection for LT, RS and ACTIV so everyone can see themselves in an Equinox.” Chevrolet offers the Equinox in LT, RS, and, for the first time ever, ACTIV trims.

At one point, the Equinox was available with a diesel and a more powerful turbocharged engine, but Chevrolet found that the vast majority preferred the economical 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4. That engine carries over with a power rating of 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque for AWD models that is reached at a low 2,000 rpm. Gone is the 6-speed automatic, which was replaced by two transmissions, depending on the drivetrain. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) models use a continuously variable transmission, while AWD models get a Hydra-Matic 8-speed automatic. This leads to an EPA-estimated city/highway/combined rating of 24 / 29 / 26 for AWD models and 26 / 28 / 27 with FWD.

Technology Infused Interior

The redesigned interior has a modern appearance, focusing more on technology and user experience. The driver enjoys an 11-inch-diagonal configurable driver information center. Adjacent to the gauge cluster housing is the new, standard 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen that’s more than 30% wider than the largest screen offered in the current model. Powered by the Google Built-In operating system, it features built-in Google Maps and the Google Assistant voice recognition system. Wireless smartphone charging is now available for the first time.

A new electronic transmission range selector is off the steering column, freeing up space in the center console. Elsewhere, you will find quality tactile materials and decorative trim with coordinated textures throughout the seats, instrument panels, doors, and storage areas. The RS adds additional flare with distinctive Torch Red and Santorini Blue stitching on the Evotex seats, debossed “RS” logos on the headrests in the front row, and a heated, flat-bottom steering wheel. Buyers can add available heated and ventilated front seats and rear heated outboard seats.

Behind the rear seat, there is just a hair under 30 cubic feet of cargo space (29.8), with a hidden cargo space below the floor. Fold both sides of the 60/40 split-bench second-row seats, and the space grows to 63.5 cubic feet.

As it has on other Chevrolet model lines, the new Equinox ACTIV trim has an off-pavement theme. It features a unique, more rugged look to the front fascia with vertical grille inserts and gray metallic-finished accents. You will find black-out badging and 17-inch machined-face aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires.

Inside, you will find a Maple Sugar and Black interior theme, with premium Evotex and sueded microfiber seating surfaces, with ACTIV embroidered on driver and passenger seat headrests. The model is equipped with a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. Ventilation for the front seats, heated outboard rear seats, and driver-position memory are available.
