In a new review of the all-new Tahoe by Car and Driver, they say that it is nothing less than the gold standard of all full-size, three-row SUVs on the market, thanks in part to its new technology features. While most SUVs on the market offer just one engine, the Chevy gives buyers a choice of three excellent engines, each with their own character and personality.  

Pricing and Trim Levels 

For 2025, the Tahoe starts from $62,095 and is available in LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. All trims can be optioned with either 2WD or 4WD except for the Z71, which is 4WD only.  

A Choice of Three Unique Engines 

As mentioned, you have the choice of three different and unique engines to power your Tahoe. The standard motor for most trims is a gas 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, and optional is a gas 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The gas engines feature Dynamic Fuel Management and Stop/Start technology. The final engine is the 3.0-liter inline-6 Duramax turbo-diesel, delivering 305 horsepower and a massive 495 lb-ft of torque. All motors route power through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Car and Driver had plenty to say about all of the things that make the Tahoe such an outstanding vehicle: “… the Chevy tops our list of full-size three-row haulers, and it’s pretty easy to see why. It’s sufficiently roomy with loads of storage. It’s capable of letting its hair down around some curves. Its up to 8100 pounds of pulling capability will delight folks looking to tow all sorts of things. Its familiar style and solid ergonomics offer all the mod cons and no surprises, and you will never be over- or underdressed when showing up in a Tahoe, compelling enticements to breadwinners who want to buy into an institution.” 

The Perfect Displays 

Two of the magazine’s favorite features, though, were the 11-inch digital gauge cluster that meets up with a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Google Built-in. At the bottom of the screen are easy-to-tap icons that control the temperature, air speed, and more without having to search for anything that you will use every day.  

Super Cruise Is the Best of All 

All of the rage today is hands-free driver assistance systems. However, not all systems are the same in capability. Super Cruise by General Motors is particularly brilliant and easily the most effective, according to Car and Driver. By the end of the year, GM says that they will have 750,000 miles of roads mapped throughout North America. “GM’s Super Cruise? The bee’s knees, and it keeps getting better with time. After spending time with this system alongside Ford’s BlueCruise and Nissan’s ProPilot Assist 2.1, this is the hands-free driver assist we like the most.”
