The Renowned Tech Influencer Marques Brown Lee, Reviewing The Chevy Silverado EV Pickup Truck

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is the latest and greatest pickup truck that takes the industry to whole new levels. As a pure electric truck, the Silverado EV gives customers all that they need when it comes to range and usability. Famous YouTube tech influencer Marques Brownlee, otherwise known as MKBHD, recently took the Silverado EV for a spin and found it to be the best option for those buyers that want or need a truck that they won’t be using for hauling and towing all of the time.

Trim Levels, Range, and Capacities

For 2025, the Chevy Silverado EV is available in three main trim levels that include the WT (Work Truck), LT, and RST, with pricing starting from $57,095 and extending to $97,895 for the top RST Max Range trim. The Silverado EV WT has the highest range of the three trim levels with up to 492 miles with the Max Range option, while the LT features the most towing and hauling power with 12,500 pounds of towing capacity and 1,800 pounds of payload capacity. The RST has 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Wide Open Throttle mode and can still tow up to 10,000 pounds and drive up to 460 miles with the Max Range option.

Marques Is in Awe of the Driving Range

As he did a video walkaround of the truck, Mr. Brownlee opened the driver door and showed that the EV had 93% battery left with 434 miles of range. He said when he first charged it up to 100% it was showing 475 miles of range, 15 more miles than what Chevrolet advertises. Obviously, depending on driving conditions, mileage can and will vary. Regardless, Chevrolet made sure that the Silverado EV is fully able to compete with other EV trucks and gas-powered trucks. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that with a Level 3 DC fast charger, the Silverado can add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

The Hidden Compartment Under The Rear Seats Of Spacious 2024 Silverado EV

Size Matters, Especially for Tall People

Upon stepping into the vehicle, Marques said the cabin is “enormous, enormous.” With the driver seat set to his position, he fits behind in the rear seats with loads of leg and foot room to spare. And that’s no small feat as Brownlee is 6-foot 3-inches, so he certainly can use all the space he can get. There are so many cubbies and spaces to put bottles, cups, phones, and anything else you bring with you. Each door pocket has a couple of spots for bottles, plus there are four main cupholders in the center console area. You can even lift the rear seats up for more hidden storage for things like charging equipment.

The Best Brake Regen Technology

One thing that he loved was that the Silverado EV has no start/stop button. Instead, when you get in the truck with the key, just putting your foot on the brake starts the truck immediately. And when you stop, you just get out and walk away and it automatically turns off. A special feature that MKBHD took time to highlight is how the Silverado EV handles brake regeneration and one-pedal driving, which then of course have a positive effect on the driving range. “So the Silverado EV has some peak EV stuff going on here. As you’re driving there is pretty strong liftoff regen in “Normal” mode …”

Regen On Demand

Marques proceeded to show the paddle on the left side of the steering wheel that uses what Chevrolet calls “Regen On Demand.” When you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal the Silverado EV will come to a stop with one-pedal driving. However, pulling on the steering wheel paddle allows you to slow the truck even faster. This, Brownlee says, this is “peak EV” for not having to touch the brake pedal.

More and More Charging Stations

Possibly the biggest draw for some people is going to be the fact that owners of Silverado EVs will be able to charge their trucks at any of the 30,000 Tesla Supercharger ports across the United States. There are currently over 192,000 EV chargers around the country, and Pew Research says that 64% of Americans now live within two miles of a public charging station, which is quite incredible when you think that public charging stations first started being produced about 15 or so years ago. Within the next 10 years, it is estimated that the U.S. will have more public charging stations than gas stations.
