2025 Tahoe & Suburban Get Significant Tech Upgrades

Chevrolet has revealed the 2025 Tahoe and Suburban models to the world. The changes include revised styling, particularly up front, and there is a more powerful diesel engine. However, the biggest changes are an all-new dash design and the addition of several new technologies. Chevrolet isn’t precise about the timing, but both models can probably be expected to arrive in Twin Falls Chevrolet’s inventory in the summer or fall of 2024.

Highlighting the Exterior Changes is…Lighting
Headlining the exterior changes are the lighting changes at the front. Horizontal LED daytime Running Lights (DRLs) reside in the current location of the headlights. The current C-shaped DRLs remain, but instead of wrapping around a forward protruding section of the side panel, that area now houses the projection LED headlights. It follows a look introduced by the Blazer and Chevrolet’s other smaller, sportier SUVs. The Tahoe and Suburban’s six trims – LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country – all add their own design cues to this new front styling.
“The new faces of Tahoe and Suburban are more expressive, borrowing inspiration from the recently refreshed Chevrolet truck lineup,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “They remain as versatile as ever, but with a greater emphasis on the details that have driven these large SUVs to the top of their segment.”
Trim details complementing the new styling can be found on the rest of the exterior. One “big” change is the availability of 24-inch wheels on the RST and High Country trims. Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic are two newly added exterior colors.

All New Interior
The dash has been completely redesigned for a more integrated appearance and one that accommodates the standard, class-leading 17.7-inch center touchscreen. Rather than standing alone, it is adjacent to the new 11-inch driver information center. Having both screens at the same height makes scanning both displays quicker and easier. Below the big center screen are HVAC vents and physical controls for the most used climate control functions.
The electronically controlled transmission shifter is now a stalk on the right side of the steering wheel, freeing up space on both the dash and center console. This is a new take on an old idea that is both easier and more intuitive to use than the current dash button controls. The center screen is angled toward the driver but not so much that it can’t be easily used by the front passenger. In addition to the new configurable driver information center, the driver is presented with a new, more refined steering wheel design with easier-to-use controls.
Around the rest of the cabin, you will find more refined decor across the lineups of both models where, depending on the trim, you will find Piano Black and Galvano chrome along with soft-touch and wrapped materials. The High Country now features authentic wood trim for the first time.

Mechanical Enhancements
The changes are more than skin deep. Updates have been made to the multi-link independent rear suspension of both model lines to improve ride and handling. Air suspension is available on the High Country and Z71 grades, along with the RST grade for the first time. Magnetic Ride Control has returned and is standard on the Premier and High Country grades and is available on the RST and Z71. The system uses a magnetically reactive fluid inside the dampers that can variably change their stiffness in a split second with electronic input. The short description of the effects is that this allows a comfortable highway ride that additinally controls rebound and body roll when the conditions call for it.
The Duramax turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 diesel V6 is now rated at 305 hp, up from the 277 hp of the current engine. The 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter gasoline V8s carry on unchanged.

More Useful Technology
Chevrolet is well aware that both the Suburban and Tahoe are popular towing vehicles, and much of the model’s new technology is focused on easing all that is challenging about towing. The Max Trailering Package includes features such as:
- Hitch View – Displays a top-down image to help line up the vehicle and trailer.
- Hill Descent Control – Controls speed on steep descents to allow the driver to concentrate on steering.
- Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering – Can extend the blind spot to include the trailer length.
- Chevrolet Trailering App – You can input the type of trailer you are towing, and the app will adjust other vehicle systems accordingly.

Chevrolet has other towing features such as:
- Trailer Tire Health – Helps prevent trailer tire blowouts with a trailer tire life monitor and over-speed warning.
- Mobile Trailering App Load Rating Info – Offers anytime/anywhere access to the vehicle’s load rating.
- Forward Path Indication – Helps drivers navigate their trailer with guidelines on the Surround View to indicate the width of the trailer and the trailer’s path. When the turn signal is activated, guidelines will show the driver the estimated turning path for both the vehicle and trailer.
- Boat Ramp Assist – Helps customers access a checklist and step-by-step instructions to prepare for towing, launching, and retrieving a boat, is newly available within the trailering app.
- Trailer Navigation – Calculates routes based on trailer size using built-in Google Maps.
New technologies unrelated to towing include Connected Cameras, which enable the owner to view the interior and exterior of the vehicle through their smartphone or similar device. The Interior Motion Detection feature is sensitive enough to notice if a baby or small child is left behind by their breathing. Of course, Chevrolet will continue to have the Chevy Safety Assist suite of safety and driver assistance technologies as standard on all Suburban and Tahoe models, and Super Cruise will continue to be available.
The changes involve more than a $500,000,000 investment in the Arlington Assembly plant in Texas, a nice birthday present for the 70th anniversary of the facility. As mentioned, the 2025 Suburban and Tahoe will both come to Twin Falls Chevrolet later this year.
